Didn’t See That Coming…

Those of you who have traveled with us through the 63 posts on this blog, will recall numerous instances when we were surprised by events. We decided to make a list of them because…well, why not!

  1. So much cool and cold weather
  2. Meeting so many nice people
  3. Learning about Looping and Loopers
  4. That I (Kathy) would like it so much
  5. That we would make so many friends
  6. Eating out so much (local seafood at its best)
  7. Staying in slips so often (this is where we met wonderful people and shared traveling tips and sea stories)
  8. Never using the dinghy
  9. Never using the paddleboard
  10. That the windlass stopped working (one more repair needed)
  11. How beautiful the scenery could be
  12. How many cool towns there are along the coast
  13. How enjoyable it is to visit a town by water and on foot
  14. How much dirty water there is in the rivers
  15. How much we would love the Chesapeake
  16. How much attention our tug generated at the marinas (lots of boat tours)
  17. How many tours of other boats we would enjoy
  18. How generous fellow cruisers were with useful advice
  19. How little TV we watched…on the computer because we never got the TV to work, ever
  20. How easy it is to overpack when the suitcase is 40 feet long
  21. How much time we would spend planning our days, food, fuel, water etc.
  22. How much the price of fuel would go up (doubled)
  23. What good mechanics we could find along the way
  24. That we would need good mechanics along the way
  25. Hundreds of flies in the cockpit, while miles from land…3 times…where the heck do they come from??
  26. What a wonderful trip it would be
  27. How it would feel to be away from home for 138 nights
  28. How much we are looking forward to future (shorter) voyages
