Those of you who have traveled with us through the 63 posts on this blog, will recall numerous instances when we were surprised by events. We decided to make a list of them because…well, why not!
- So much cool and cold weather
- Meeting so many nice people
- Learning about Looping and Loopers
- That I (Kathy) would like it so much
- That we would make so many friends
- Eating out so much (local seafood at its best)
- Staying in slips so often (this is where we met wonderful people and shared traveling tips and sea stories)
- Never using the dinghy
- Never using the paddleboard
- That the windlass stopped working (one more repair needed)
- How beautiful the scenery could be
- How many cool towns there are along the coast
- How enjoyable it is to visit a town by water and on foot
- How much dirty water there is in the rivers
- How much we would love the Chesapeake
- How much attention our tug generated at the marinas (lots of boat tours)
- How many tours of other boats we would enjoy
- How generous fellow cruisers were with useful advice
- How little TV we watched…on the computer because we never got the TV to work, ever
- How easy it is to overpack when the suitcase is 40 feet long
- How much time we would spend planning our days, food, fuel, water etc.
- How much the price of fuel would go up (doubled)
- What good mechanics we could find along the way
- That we would need good mechanics along the way
- Hundreds of flies in the cockpit, while miles from land…3 times…where the heck do they come from??
- What a wonderful trip it would be
- How it would feel to be away from home for 138 nights
- How much we are looking forward to future (shorter) voyages
