We needed a 2 night destination for a rendezvous with our new compressor and refrigerator repair man. We also needed an address to ship my replacement cell phone. Jupiter was the right distance so we randomly picked JIB Club Marina from the cruising guide. What a great find! Reminded us a lot of NTYC, our own local Narraganset Terrace “Yacht Club” in vibe. Casual, many members gathering here and there for talk or beers (didn’t notice any rum???)or both, some working on facilities and everyone relaxing enjoying their day or evening. They have a nice pool which I (Kathy) think would be a great addition to NTYC…who’s on house this year?
This marina is attached to a small condo development and has space for maybe 3 transient boaters. It is located between the ocean and the ICW, in the Jupiter Inlet Colony neighborhood. This neighborhood is about the same size and population as the Terrace. However, every (substantial) house and public space is perfectly manicured. Not a blade of grass out of place and yards void of swing sets, boats and other clues to the character of the residents. Sort of a paradise for certain people and a place where visitors are usually guests of residents.
A long sandy ocean-front beach defines the eastern side of this area. Jupiter Inlet (a navigable passage from the ocean) borders the southern side and the ICW borders the west, while a bridge on the north side connects the neighborhood to the mainland.
We had a peaceful night sleep and a very productive morning. The phone arrived and we (Kathy) got all the data transferred. The refrigerator repairman installed the new compressor (it works) and we went for a walk on the beach which concluded with watching sport fishing boats timing their entrance through the inlet to shoot through, on top of the waves, at 20+ Knots. Very dramatic in a you-have-to-be-there sort of way.
An early start and next stop Titusville
