After a relaxing 70 mile trek through the ICW, we tied up at the Mega Dock amongst the Mega Yachts at Charleston City Marina (and were finally able to cash in on a Safe Harbor free night). We caught the shuttle over to the other side of town and had dinner at the Rappohanock Oyster Bar, where we discovered that the perfect compliment to (many) Oysters and (a few) cocktails was a flight of bread (different breads & spreads) which added some much needed ballast.
Leaving Charleston at 8 am we continued another 70 miles up the ICW to Georgetown. This passage through Charleston Harbor was very different than when we visited last fall. No tankers, no barges, no speeding Yahoos, a few waves but perfect visibility. Along the way we passed through an area where the dolphins played in our bow wave and travelled alongside. Arriving around 3:30 – plenty of time for a walk around town before dinner. Having enjoyed a few days here on the way south, we scheduled just one night to stretch our legs and have dinner ashore.
We revisited Drystack Marina where the crew was accommodating helped us tie up and we set off for a walk around town.
Very nice photos and update.
Safe travels.
